BT Sport is joined by manchester United star Robin van Persie - BBC News

BT Sport has signed Manchester United's Robin van Persie to function as the face of its advertising for its live Premier League shows. Last summertime BT won the rights to broadcast 38 fits a year from 2013-14 to 2015-16. It has been buying up other sporting rights, including English Premiership Rugby, as it competes with Sky for the armchair sports fan. Last month Spurs player Gareth Bale was authorized for the BT marketing strategy. The rights have been also secured by bt Sport to live top tier fits from Serie A in Italy, Ligue 1 in France, the Brasileiro in Brazil and Major League Soccer in america. Furthermore, BT's acquisition of ESPN's TELEVISION stations company in the UK and Ireland in February of this year provides the rights to exhibit live games for the FA Cup, Scottish Premier League, Europa League and the German Bundesliga. Van Persie will now star in television ads, billboard hoardings and other marketing BT Sport plans. The Dutchman obtained a hat-trick on Monday evening in United's 3-0 home win over Aston Villa, a success which clinched the Old Trafford c;lub's 20th group title. Simon Green, mind of BT Sport, said: "I am definitely delighted that people have signed a star of Robin's calibre to stay our advertising."
