Bonus Brian Reade: Manchester United's title, Germany 8 Spain 1 and much more - Mirror.co.uk

Arsenal's guard of honour shows Fergie is still going great Gunns PLUS Fernando Torres and those extra penalty-box officials

It's going to hurt a Gooner more than Spurs' team bus reversing up his jaxey with spikes sticking out of the wheels.

Because he or the men who sanctioned last summer's signings for City are as much to blame for United wrapping up the title, with four games to spare, as Van Persie.

Signing Scott Sinclair, Jack Rodwell and Javi Garcia said the squad we've got will go on to defend their title with ease, so we just need to add a couple of youngish squad players for the future.

Sir Alex Ferguson has never forgotten it. That's why, despite all the talk from outsiders about this being a mediocre United team, he's walked this title more easily than any other.

When teams have the right mentality, emanating from the manager and drilled into every squad player, that's enough to pick up the wins; when others settle for draws, that makes you the best.

Love or loathe Fergie, you have to be in serious denial not to admit, once again, he's shown everyone else how it's done.

If your club was given the choice of signing 28-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo or 24-year-old Robert Lewandowski, who would it be?

When Jurgen Klopp leaves, how quickly will they become the new Bayer Leverkusen, and will that be the point when everyone stops hero-worshipping Europe's favourite club/fans/manager?

London may have been prepared for the Olympics but is it prepared for the consequences of a likely all-German Champions League final on May 25?

Because it will be painful. Especially for the anti-Kraut Basil Fawlty brigade. As a sound will be heard across London as loud and threatening as the incoming Luftwaffe in 1940.

A couple of months back, I wrote about the penalty box officials FIFA employ in Champions League games being as pointless as a pair of balls on a chemically- castrated eunuch.

Having seen them miss two decisions in Munich, the blatant body-check and the offside, I'd like to change that analogy.

Something Spanish football needs to chew on in this humbling week is why Barcelona looked so tired against Bayern, and Real Madrid against Dortmund?

Might the answer be that Bundesliga teams play four games less than La Liga (which translates to a month's holiday) and does not consist of the same two sides going head to head, sometimes eight times a season, in bone-crunching El Clasicos?

Maybe, because the money is spread around in Germany and other sides, outside the greedy top two, are allowed, like Dortmund, to develop.

Of course he will, unless Chelsea rip up his contract and pay him off, because if they tried to sell him they'd get few takers above £10million and Torres would not cut his wages by the 70 per cent required.
