'What I want is for us to have a good game and to beat them, it doesn't matter what kind of status they come with' says Arsene Wenger
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists Robin van Persie will be shown respect when he returns to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday as a newly crowned Premier League champion.
The Red Devils are expected to be given a guard of honour from the home side in a show of respect following their capture of a 20th league title - courtesy of a hat-trick from the Dutchman against Aston Villa on Monday.
He said: "We will respect the players that have played for us a long time as we always have done and treat them well before and after the game.
United gave Arsenal a guard of honour at Highbury in 1991, while Sir Alex Ferguson's men also did it for Chelsea in 2005.
Arsenal fans have been divided over van Persie, but some have urged their fellow supporters not to go over the top in their abuse.
Arsenal will receive an extra £1.5m for Van Persie now United have won the title, as performance-related bonuses were part of the £24m deal which took him north.
