On the April 5 edition of ESPN2 Friday Night Fights, Rustam Nugaev A( 22-6-1, 12 KOs) proved to be a lot of for the previously unbeaten boxing possibility Jonathan Maicelo (19-0, 11 KOs). Maicelo seemed sharp early, but Nugaev walked through the untested Peruvianas best blows, rating an amazing knockout in Round 8 of the lightweight attack. Maiceloa'who got in favoreda'moved around properly in the first round, combining combinations with great head movement. Nugaeva'to his credita'only needed a couple of rounds to get heated up and actually set the force on Maicelo, who probably didnat assume his opponent to be so well-conditioned. While he did land his fair share of blows, the power wasn't possessed by Maicelo to seriously hurt his hard Russian opponent, Nugaev. Maiceloas fall was his lack of defense and his failure to play to his benefits. He was baited into close-quarter transactions, which doesnat match his counter-puncher design. As early as Round 2, Maicelo began swinging wildly with off-balanced overhand rights. His opinion was made by teddy Atlas known early on the ESPN telecast, stating that he was concerned with how Maicelo was handling Nugaevas stress. While the battle wore on, Nugaev began to land the smaller and cleaner blows. The best of the images was the fight that was ended by the one at the 2:03 mark in Round 8. Nugaeva'who showed the exact same come-forward style as his friend and fellow countryman, Ruslan Provodnikova'surely won over some fans with his knockout victory. Rudy Hernandez, Nugaevas instructor, guided a to a gutsy win for the 2nd straight week and certainly increased his profile as well. With the victory,ANugaev is currently 6-1 with five knockouts in his last eight battles. With a fan-friendly type, a chance will be likely got by Nugaev to fight on American television again. Maicelo, who experienced his first professional reduction, can now check out regain and regroup a number of the impetus he'd coming into this battle. Follow me on Twitter:
