RYAN Donaldson admitted the opportunity to work with his ancient Newcastle United mentor Richard Money was the reason why he quit Gateshead meant for Cambridge.
Donaldson last night autographed a two-year-contract with United last night after rejecting a new deal at the Tynesiders.
The 22-year-old proclaimed he was thrilled from renewing acquaintances with Cambridge top of your head coach Money, who caused the player as a young child while academy director from Newcastle.
"The gaffer was that big draw for me and probably the most important reason for people coming here. I realize he did with me before and I'm sure he'll make me a more suitable player, and hopefully you can easily achieve all our goals regarding who the winner. "
The former Britain under-19 international, who joined the Take last summer after released by the Premier Group outfit, said he ended up being struck by United's aspiration.
He said: "The office manager and Jez (George, director of football) have told me about their plans and I just wanted to engage in that.
"The signings they've made have been very good and I played against suggestions players last season, so I'm glad to get in on that.
"There are brilliant facilities here, the training ground differs from the others class and having been to the stadium before, I know what it can also be like on a matchday, and I'm pumped up about calling it my home now.
"I like to get it down and engage in, but I try to combine it up because people can't always play nice football and various of games where you've reached do the physical side as well.
"I'm used to playing inside the Conference now and it's constant, so you've got to get strong, but hopefully I often do it all. "
The losing of the attacking midfielder can be described as setback to Gateshead management Anth Smith's plans for ones new season.
Smith has now added three strikers so that you can his squad – Richard Brodie, Colin Larkin together with Adam Boyes.
