Michael Owen Apologises To Newcastle United After Contract Rest Accusation - Atmosphere Tyne and Wear

Former Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has retracted comments he made on Twitter by which he accused the membership of lying to supporters about whether or not he was offered a fresh agreement. Owen joined Newcastle United in a deal from Real Madrid in August 2005 but joined Manchester United as a free of charge agent after following relegation was expired by his deal to the Championship last year. Former England international Owen, who declared on Monday he'll hang up his shoes at the conclusion of the summer season, had hit out at supporters who bore a grudge following his leave. He said he was at no point presented a new contract and for the club to have done therefore would have been "financial suicide." He said supporters "did not know the half it" and that the reality would be exposed "one day." But one day after posting the responses on the web he took to Twitter to set the record straight. He explained on Sunday: "Just to explain. My twitter recently described no contract offer after Newcastle relegation. That I said was understandable. "Newcastle did make me a present to extend in 2008 when Joe Kinnear was director. The previous day, Owen had written: "Newcastle supporters, a lot of you tweeting me saying you do not blame me for finding hurt but for leaving when we got directed. "Despite the club saying they did, they didn't actually offer me a new deal despite them putting it in the press that they did. "How could they when they'd just been directed? It would have now been financial suicide. "I have observed a million times to it, a club will really lie to their fans to take the moral high ground making the gamer without any leg to stand on. "I have got the stick for years that is great but you do maybe not know 1 / 2 of it. All will be revealed one day." Now with Stoke after three periods at Old Trafford,Aproduced a wholesome reunite of 26 Premier League objectives from his 71 performances at Newcastle United. Newcastle United didn't desire to review.
