Arsenal V Reading at Emirates Arena - LIVE - Collection World

Collection V Reading at Emirates Arena - STAY. Wenger has faith in under-fire Szczesny Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger thinks goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny should really be very proud of already having made 100 first-team appearances - and recalled also legendary number 1 David Seaman had his "blips." The Poland stopper hasn't featured for the last two matches ahead of the global break, slipped for Lukasz Fabianski against Bayern Munich and then watching on from the table at Swansea, decisions which produced open responses from his father. The 22-year-old moved quickly to distance herself from that strong criticism of Wenger, insisting he was pleased to fight for his place, having come through the Arsenal youth program after joining from Legia Warsaw in 2006. Wenger has every confidence in Szczesny's long-term ability. "That (100 appearances) is just a big credit to him, some thing positively fantastic and shows he's an excellent future," Wenger said in a interview with Arsenal Player. "What is happening to him at this time is a regular procedure for any career - we'd (Jens) Lehmann, (David) Seaman, they had their blips and their periods where they were less good, even if they were more knowledgeable than Wojciech." Wenger should decide whether to recall Szczesny for the visit of relegation-battlers Reading, but has drawn a line under the new choice row. "I haven't spoken to him (about his father's remarks), but in my opinion he answered very well. There's a not a much more to say," the Gunners manager told a news conference. "We come in a competitive world, he's played 100 games because of this team and at his age that is absolutely great. "For the rest, we've ups and downs inside our type and we've to fight against that, that's what he explained, basically. "Wojciech features a good potential. He is a really young goalkeeper. Many goalkeepers were not found very by you at his age who have the knowledge he has already, that is why I really believe he's a fantastic future, but he lives in some sort of where competition exists." The Gunners is likely to be without England duo Jack Wilshere (foot) and Theo Walcott (hip/thigh). Midfielder Abou Diaby can be absent after being eliminated for nine months with anterior cruciate ligament damage in his left knee. Left-back Kieran Gibbs will be considered after being laid low with a disease, but right-back Bacary Sagna (knee) and striker Lukas Podolski (leg) ought to be available again. Meanwhile, former Arsenal goalkeeper Stuart Taylor is hoping to get the chance to shut-out his old staff when Reading carry on their relegation battle. Taylor, 32, came through the childhood ranks at Highbury, and made enough first-team performances to state a championship champions' honor in 2001/2002 and also was on the bench for the FA Cup final conquer Southampton at Wembley. Nevertheless, after discovering Lehmann and Manuel Almunia before him, Taylor moved on to Aston Villa in 2005, where he would also see options limited behind Scott Carson, Brad Friedel and then Brad Guzan. Adhering to a mortgage cause at Cardiff and a go on to Manchester City, where his only look was in a FA Cup tie against Scunthorpe, Taylor wound up signing a one-year deal with the Royals. Injuries to both first-choice Adam Federici and deputy Alex McCarthy meant Taylor has begun the last three group games and he would enjoy the chance to manage his old side in what'll be new director Nigel Adkins' first match in control. "I haven't really played against Arsenal. It would be a great experience to go back there - it's a great club, who I have very happy memories of," Taylor said in an interview with www.readingfc.co.uk. "It was a great destination for a be a person. The lovers were always great there - and it was an actual honor, to play with a number of the participants that I did so. "They had several really world-class experienced players there at the time, amazing players most of them, and, as he nevertheless does, Arsene Wenger started initially to throw in the children in alongside them. "Arsene Wenger gave me my chance and I'll often be indebted to him for that. "Arsenal are going through a bit of a change at the moment, however, many of the people they've coming through are wonderful. "A year or two down the line I think you'll see these young people and the team all together become stronger. "When a number of these young people have a bit more knowledge under their belts, that is when Arsenal is a real force." New Royals director Nigel Adkins will have striker Pavel Pogrebnyak available again after a three-match suspension, while attacking midfielder Jimmy Kebe continues to fight against a crotch problem. Forward Jason Roberts (hip) remains sidelined.tbc Source: DSG

Fallout from Yankees' Announcement That A-Rod Could Miss Season

He debuted in the Majors at the young age of 18 in 1994, quickly showcasing his undeniable talent.  After his first full season with the Seattle Mariners in 1996 during which he batted a robust .358, it was clear that Rodriguez intended to prove the claim that he would be one of the best all-around baseball players to ever live.

Over the course of his illustrious career, Rodriguez has recorded 14 100-RBI seasons, won three AL-MVP Awards, and two Gold Gloves.  He was the fastest player to hit 500 and 600 career home runs. He also received the Babe Ruth Award in 2009, given to the best player in the postseason, after helping the Yankees to their only World Series championship in the past 12 seasons.

While he did admit to using performance enhancing drugs for three years while on the Texas Rangers, some fans and observers could choose to overlook this fault. After all, this was the Steroid Era and any number of players may have been on PEDs during those seasons.  Overall, Rodriguez's statistics testify to the fact that he may be the best player of this generation, if not of all time.

While Rodriguez may have enough talent to last him an eternity, he is alas not immune to the effects of Father Time.  Over the past two years, the 37-year-old Rodriguez has averaged just 17 home runs, a .275 average and has played in fewer than 111 games each season.  Also, it was recently announced that Rodriguez would be out until at least the All-Star break in the 2013 season after undergoing hip surgery.

Now, the New York Yankees did acquire Kevin Youkilis over the offseason to fill the hole at third base while A-Rod is sidelined. I still believe, however, that Rodriguez's talent and potential to record big numbers numbers every season are things any team would suffer without.

Here are a few reasons that losing Rodriguez for at least half the season, maybe even the entire season, is a considerable blow to the Yankees.

With Rodriguez out, the Yankees turn to their former enemy Kevin Youkilis to fill the void at third base.  Youkilis, over his career, has been known for working pitchers, getting on base and boasting stellar offense numbers.  Last year, however, while splitting time between the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox he batted just .235 and had an OBP of just .336, both career lows.

Perhaps Youkilis just had an off year.  Or perhaps pitchers have figured out how to keep the pesky infielder from getting on base.  Either way, Youkilis may not produce great numbers this season; in fact, there is a good chance he may hit even lower and get on base even less frequently.  While Rodriguez is not the player he once was, I doubt he would ever put up numbers like Youkilis did last season.  Youkilis may do a solid job for the first half of the season, but I still think he is a considerable downgrade from Rodriguez.

Under the assumption that last year was just an off season for Rodriguez, Yankee fans would be cringing after hearing about his surgery.  In 2010, the last time he played at least 100 games, Alex hit 30 home runs and drove in 125 runs.

His power numbers may have declined of late, but with his talent and time to repair his mental game, I think Alex might have had another great year if not for the injury.

For someone as talented as Rodriguez, offensive problems are never irreparable.  Often it is a mental block that seems to prevent the player from producing at their usual rate.  Working this offseason to refocus, A-Rod hitting at least 25 home runs and driving in over 85 runs if he had been healthy for this entire season would not have been out of the question.  Losing Rodriguez means the Yankees lose a potent bat in their offense.  The lineup overall could suffer from missing A-Rod, as it is one less dangerous bat for opposing pitchers to have to worry about.

Lastly, many critics have relentlessly attacked Rodriguez for his poor play in clutch situations, namely the postseason.  His statistics in the most recent postseason were especially bad.

This criticism may hold weight at times, but excluding the last two years, Rodriguez is a career .302 hitter in the postseason (60 for 199).  In 2009, his heroics in the playoffs were a large reason the Yankees were able to advance to the World Series and eventually win it all.  In fact, that season was the last time New York won the World Series since 2000, an eternity for Yankee fans.

Could it be that the Yankees might only win another World Series if A-Rod churns out another spectacular postseason?  If Rodriguez is out for the entire year, he won't be around to have the opportunity to make big plays for the Yankees offense in the postseason, as he did the last time the Yankees won it all.

Rodriguez's injury means the Yankees lose one of the best players of all time for at least half a season, no questions about it.  There are ways to cope with this loss, but it is very possible that no A-Rod could negatively affect the Yankees in 2013.

Everton 1 Stoke City 0: match report - Telegraph.co.uk

Mirallas performed like a possessed with the vigour and confidence he showed just before his hamstring injury early in the summer season, making his departure 10 minutes from with a groin injury so infuriating. Pulis must wonder how the winger was permitted to run 80 yards to score without so much as a specialist foul to worry about, however it was however a thrilling moment out of preserving what choose to go before. aThat was the Kevin Mirallas from early in the day in the season,a said Moyes. aHis goal was some thing else.a It leaves Stoke staring at the fixture list with tension. This appeared to be a time to visit Everton. Marouane Fellaini and Steven Pienaar were banned and Moyes was forced to change to a different 3-5-2. Stoke had chances. They very nearly led on three full minutes when Ryan Shottonas expanded chuck-in found the top of Robert Huth. Bob Howard, right back from injury, stored and Jon Walters was regrettable his effort from the jump moved onto the bar. Minutes were displayed more acrobatics to push a Walters long-range strike wide five by howard ahead of the interval. There was also a flurry of 56 minutes on the typical set-pieces, certainly one of that ought to have produced a equaliser for Huth. Pulis insisted his part doesn't get enough credit for their agood footballa. It had been a dubious observation. aItas our fifth period in the Premier League and our away performances have now been much better this year,a he insisted. aItas 40 points we need to get, nevertheless we get them.a They'll probably survive because there are three worse teams in the league, but regardless of how their director really wants to be observed, their vertical float in 2013 is reflective of the actual fact they have relied on a single dimension for too much time. Corners, free-kicks and throw-ins remain their primary aspiration. While Everton ensured Arsenal and Chelsea are still looking over their shoulder, Pulis left Goodison Park still increasingly aware of what is gathering over his.

The people that can leave Manchester City come early july - Goal.com

Prev Manchester City that could be left by the players come july 1st Zabaleta has stood in as chief in the absence of Vincent Kompany - an advantage that has formerly been bestowed upon Richards - and has previously made two more group appearances than he did in the entirety of last time. That's led to studies relating Richards with Arsenal. Town have two options here: they can try to recover some dough by offering Richards and often maintain Maicon as a to Zabaleta, or revert to the rotation system that worked therefore well in 2011-12. The latter seems much more likely for a selection of reasons - Richards is a better person than Maicon (and home-grown) and Mancini asks a large amount of his full-backs, as evidenced by the continued time-sharing of Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy on the left - but it is really a condition to observe over the summer and beyond. Solution to Federer earning a Slam in 2013.

What appears near-certain from aspects currently influencing Federer - from outside and within - is that he isn't earning this year to two Slams. One? There is still a remote chance IF material isA'managed.' IF that is confirmed (that he can get JUST one) with a slim margin, would not it be prudent to do whatever it takes to increase the likelihood of that happening - to the exclusion of everything else? What about this: Decide NOW on the Slam you're targeting and then 'handle' the routine, human anatomy, education, back, vacation, resistance (?), Annacone's love interest an such like. to allow one to peak for that SOLE second. For instance, say it's the US Open. It's a known proven fact that ALL people get there bruised, exhausted and hurt. Heck, the thorn in your bush has made that the routine in all his years on the tour - except one. AND there's a strong possibility that he'll be doing something to change this time to that background around. Might scaling right back the schedule before the event help? You bet!!!!!! And if which makes you look detrimental to the supporters and the sponsors, what about 'preparing' an early exit( s) with enough theatrics to make it seem 'true' - like you've been doing all along with Wawrinka - on and off the court? For even more ideas, check with the Williams sisters - and the brother on steroids. You believe that may move your freaking chances northwards a little? Inadequate? Employ Lendl and his crew to create the exact replica of the US Open middle court in - Dubai. So at the least it cannot harm it worked over and over again in the past. And your insufficient history NOT requiring you to perform tons of fits to attain top form - IF a break WILL become necessary - helps it be an even more of a hot and a no-brainer proposal. Freaking position is this: You've a one-two punch to deal with. 1. You have to 'handle.' 2. You have to be ready and willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING else REGARDLESS OF how reasonable and possible it looks today - from No. 1 rank (Heck, ANY rank) to 8th Wimbledon to 22nd Masters to Roland Garros to WTF certification to year-end rating to whatfreakingever. While at it NOT losing a match with several match points IN YOUR SERVE wouldn't harm either.

City set to get rid of Sergio Aguero to Real Madrid in the summer - Football.co.uk

Starsport unmasked last week that Spanish leaders Real Madrid continue to be tracking Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and expect to sign him during the summer. True Madrid are seeking to invest around A45million to land the Argentine striker and could also offer Karim Benzema or Gonzalo Higuain in a part exchange deal. It has been noted that after the break-up of his marriage, Aguero has become disillusioned with life in Manchester. Madrid president Florentino Perez has brought charge of exchanges and is concerned he might lose Cristiano Ronaldo come early july. Along side Aguero he has also qualified Gareth Bale while the person to restore the Portuguese superstar. Real Madrid were keen to sign Aguero from Atletico Madrid when he joined City nevertheless they refused to sell with their intense opponents. Many think the deal could go forward as Sergio is looking to go back to Madrid to be close to his son who moved back to Spain with his wife Giannina. Manchester City only have the F.A. Pot left to play for and if they neglect to gain this season to such a thing I think they'll really battle to keep hold of Sergio Aguero. Aguero hasnat loved this season half around his breakthrough season in the Premier league, where he netted 23 goals and that popular success on the ultimate day of the season against Queens Park Rangers.

What Boris Berezovsky's Death Opportinity For Roman Abramovich - The Difficult Handle

A penny for his views When you think about Russian oligarchs hitting each other for supremacy, you could possibly be forgiven for picturing a really Siberian environment. London, on another hand, would barely seem an appropriate place for an oligarch cage match. Where a lot of the murkiest new acts in Russian political movie have taken place and yet itas the city of Big Ben and the Tube. Boris Berezovsky, a former teacher of mathematics from a humble background, transformed herself into the most prominent oligarch in the 90s, after the drop of the Soviet Union. Having found his way to the Yeltsin institution, Berezovsky first got a taste of the nice life as steward of a chain of car dealers. Life was good in those days, very good for the oligarchs. It seems almost unreal then, that a person who once had the Kremlin on speed dial would be found dead broken, alone and miserable in your bathrooms. Boris Berezovskyas meteoric rise and fall, is in total contrast to the rise and rise of another oligarch who seems to have learned from the mistakes of his compatriots. Chelsea manager Roman Abramovich came from this impoverished and unfortunate history, that Borisa almost seems aristocratic compared. Details stay questionable, but while Boris had been king of his fort and master of his domain, he found a young, risk-taking genius with a knack for business. Berezovsky found the son, Roman Abramovich, as a protAgA and someone he could likely form in his picture. Berezovksy went in to business with Roman Abramovich, since the Russian economy opened and worked with the Chelsea owner by taking over controlling stakes in the lucrative oil giant, Sibneft. As Berezovsky meddled in politics, Abramovich set low. While both were elected members of the Duma, Russiaas house of representatives, and served together, it'd soon become obvious that only the older oligarch was intent on using fire. Not to be trifled with It wouldnat function as exception. Berezovsky was among the power-brokers that brought in a comparatively not known successor to the major leagues, as Boris Yeltsinas heir-apparent. As Yeltsinas power receded, Boris Berezovksy got to work along with other business magnates in Russia. They selected, determined and brought in the pinnacle of the FSB, the organization that succeeded the KGB, since the person to take control the reins of rule and power by their dictates. That manas title? Vladimir Putin. It remains unclear what happened involving the oligarch and the man-in-waiting, but it quickly became clear that Putin was not as flexible as Berezovsky and the oligarchs hoped he would be. Yeltsinas ill-health may have made him easier for the oligarchs to manage, but Putin was a guy in the prime of his existence, intent on establishing a brand new period in Russian politics. Very nearly soon after ascending to power, Putin stamped down on oligarch expert. As Berezovsky saw his connection with the President decline, he became increasingly vocal in his criticism of the latter a' especially his handling of the Kursk submarine situation. Berezovksy fled to London and continued to harangue, to little effect, the Putin administration. In the meantime, Roman he was endeared by Abramovich whose apparent distaste for politics to the new powers in the Kremlin grew in strength. So long as the small billionaire was content to stay in the company lane, he'd about creating untold riches and could face little resistance from Putin and Medvedev. Roman Abramovich then pressed Berezovksy to market him his share of Sibneft, on grounds there is a fair possibility that stake would be nationalized by the Putin regime without due compensation. Finding himself in a large part, his stake was sold by Berezovksy to Abramovich for a comparatively smaller quantity. After the former Russian traveler Alexander Litvinenko was assassinated in London, for having collaborated with Berezovksy, issues stumbled on a head. Berezovsky became increasingly belligerent, and filed a $6.5 billion situation against Roman Abramovich in London for allegedly having swindled and blackmailed him. The Chelsea owner tried in vain to have the case used in Russia, but Boris would have his way. Having properly charged Russia TELEVISION, and Forbes for defamation in London, Berezovsky was reasonably comfortable in his chances of winning a successful arrangement. In 2012, nevertheless, after a lengthy and bruising battle, the judge ruled in Abramovichas favor. Berezovsky was asked to pay 100 million pounds in legal expenses to Abramovich and was named an unreliable witnessa and adeliberately dishonesta in the official wisdom, as if to rub salt in to his wounds. Boris was found dead on March 23rd, 2013 after having suffered the ignominy of seeing his assets frozen in response to a filed by his former fire, Elena Gorbunova. Whilst the cause of death stays aunknowna, authorities haven't any cause to suspect foul play. His Poker Experience While itas almost certain, Putin will undoubtedly be in a mood at the collapse of his opponent, itas uncertain what the enigmatic Roman Abramovich thinks about the occurrence. In true trend, Roman Abramovich had little to say after his victory in court. There was little to gloat about since Berezovsky was seen as accomplished, in most sense of the phrase. He prizes significantly more than anything else if a return was craved by anything the Chelsea owner to comparative obscurity and the life of privacy. Berezovskyas demise threatens to undermine the Russianas satisfaction, at minimum. The investigation and additional press glare on his links to Boris Berezovksy and the complex world of Russian politics is impossible to be welcome news at breakfast time, at the Abramovich family. The Russian resistance, or the anti-Putin coalition to be particular, is probable to use Berezovskyas demise as a call to rally round the flag. With Abramovich being Putinas nearest ally in London, itas conceivable that a few of that misdirected angst will land at his doorway. These problems notwithstanding, the Chelsea owner has a greater worry to deal with. The Putin administration now without its greatest rival, is likely to be on the watch for any kind of perceived challenge from any new place of the Russian landscape and beyond. You can find no permanent friends in politics. Before he was considered a nuisance, Berezovsky was once the favorite of the establishment. Roman Abramovich has shown considerable restraint thus far, by laying low and steering clear of the power games that stir in the darkest recesses of the Kremlin. But should he ever be tempted to push the envelope, he need only remind himself of the large cost different oligarchs have covered crossing those with little patience. And if he ever needs a place of stability and relative calm, thereas always Chelsea Hamilton Academical.

But he also believes England can take Friday's 8-0 win in San Marino and carry the confidence into Tuesday's night's game in Podgorica.

Two-goal Januzaj torments Texans - ManUtd.com

25/03/2013 23:04, Report by Adam Marshall It was made by manchester United two wins out of two in the Dallas Cup with a 3-1 triumph over local favourites Dallas Texans. Despite slipping behind, Warren Joyce's children hit back through Gyliano van Velzen and a second-half support by Adnan Januzaj. The Reds looked the higher part despite testing conditions in the wind and the busy Josh Harrop had an early fee shout waved absent after great strategy function by van Velzen and James Weir. Another neat move concerning Reece James and van Velzen then led to Harrop shooting wide when he probably should have hit the prospective. So the 20th-minute operator came very much against the run of play each time a free-kick on the right was bundled house, with Adrian White maybe finding the final touch, to cue crazy festivities from the Texans. United stepped up a gear but the near post could be only hit by Mats Daehli after being identified by way of a beautiful Adnan Januzaj pass. Moments later, a free-kick on the proper from Januzaj seemed to strike van Velzen on its way into the net. It was no more than Joyceas side deserved and van Velzen lashed over the bar on the turn after more eye-catching play by comfortable left-back James. The Dutch forward was then guilty of a weak end after strong play in the build-up and he forced a save your self at the near post since the pressure began to develop leading up to half time. On the negative front, Januzaj was reserved for simulator in the box and a free of charge header may have resulted in yet another Dallas goal from the set-piece but the Reds finished the half in the ascendancy as Jamesa low mix nearly generated an own goal. Despite the introduction of Sunday night's two-goal hero James Wilson, the Reds initially fought to create the breakthrough after the interval. Tottenham valued higher than Manchester City and Liverpool - The Independent

A brand new approach to pricing football groups indicates the financial disparity between the Premier League's elite and those fighting to stay in the team. Mary Markham, a qualified accountant and former exchange investor with an MBA in Football Industries, has devised a new, six-point want to get the elusive value of a team. Markham, from Henley Business School at the University of Reading, has used revenue, income (or loss), net assets (all the club's assets, less all its liabilities, including debt) in addition to ground utilisation per cent and salaries to revenue per cent, predicated on figures between 2003/04 and 2011/12 to draft a true appraisal of a club's price. The 'group dining table' values Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea at a combined total of very nearly A2.5billion, while Queens Park Rangers, Reading and Wigan, the current base three, have a combined value of less than A160 million. Markham said: "In recent days Arsenal was stated to be the goal of a A1.5billion offer by a Middle Eastern consortium which ended up to be a where do these membership value results come from and which could be trusted? Exclusively my design considers income, earnings, stadium volume and usage, person spending, debt and other facets to produce a alike for like' cost a aneutral' person may pay for any particular club. "The table offers interesting reading. The MMM (Markham Multivariate Model) English Premier League appraisal table shows routinely profitable Tottenham Hotspur will probably be worth a lot more than both Manchester City, the Premier League title-holders, and Liverpool, 18-times champions. "Manchester City being fifth isn't surprising whilst the club don't possess their stadium, which anyway has only 47,805 seats, reduced compared to likes of Arsenal and United and they have spent within the chances on player transactions and earnings. "Liverpool is really as low as sixth for just two main reasons: missing out on the big revenue streams rivals make from the Champions League and losing out to rivals every match time because of the stadium condition. Liverpool gets A1.5m per match morning, versus Manchester United's A3.7m. I assume the club's value to boost considerably once the re-development of Anfield is complete." A dozen Premier League clubs improved ownership between 2005 and 2010, and at present 11 of the 20 factors in the division are under foreign ownership. 2012 EPL team values table utilizing the Markham Multivariate Model Position Club Price (Am) 1 Birmingham United 1,060.4 2 Arsenal 942.9 3 Chelsea 510.5 4 Tottenham Hotspur 436.3 5 Birmingham Town 401.1 6 Liverpool 352.2 7 Newcastle United 275.8 8 West Bromwich Albion 126.9 9 Sunderland 121.8 10 Everton 112.3 11 Fulham 108.7 12 West Ham United 104.3 13 Aston Villa 102.5 14 Stoke Town 94.9 15 Norwich Town 90.1 16 Swansea Area 64.8 17 Queens Park Rangers 59.9 18 Reading 58.0 19 Southampton 57.5 20 Wigan Running 42.8

NCAA Match Success Hinges on One Critical Action

Almost ensuring a victory in the NCAA Tournament is incredibly simple. All a group must do is develop a double-digit halftime lead and reap the subsequent benefits of its amazingly smart strategy. Of program, actually managing to lead by double digits at halftime needs a group to maximize its assets while limiting the performance of its opponent. The top staff has basically assured itself that when the game ends, it will be the winner, if that can be achieved. So that you can calculate so how powerful of a successful strategy building a double-digit halftime guide is, I viewed the games played within the last five events (2008-12), which cover a total of 331 contests. Of those 331 games, there were 119 in which a group was able to build a double-digit halftime lead, per aged package ratings supplied by ESPN.com. Doing this was enough to make sure victory in 113 situations for a percentage of.950. It is very difficult to overstate just how important a double-digit halftime lead could be. Lest you think that the team that builds the double-digit halftime lead watches that lead whittled away by its adversary as it supports furious comeback after furious comeback, let's dispel that idea today. In these 113 victories, the double-digit leader's average half-time margin was 15.4 points, and the average profitable margin was 17.6 points per contest. More frequently than not, the team with the large halftime guide keeps it through the match. Only rarely may be the results of the game in question. For these six groups that did hit their double-digit halftime brings, Oregon (2008), Clemson (2008), Georgetown (2008), American (2009), Florida State (2009), and Iona (2012), they'd built up an average halftime guide of 11.7 points simply to end up losing their activities by an of 6.3 points, for a move of 18 points over the program of the rest of the game. The development of benefiting from double-digit halftime leads has undoubtedly apply later on and will continued into this event. Up to now this March, 36 activities have been played with a staff cobbling together a lead in 16 of these competitions. The contest was eventually won by each one of those 16 teams, stretching an average halftime lead of 15.7 points in to an winning margin of 19.6 points. The understanding of just how effective a double-digit halftime lead may be to a team's chances of winning isn't just good for the team. You can save from seeing the next halves of any contest game in which a team has constructed a double-digit halftime lead, when time is useful. Sure, there's always the possibility that you'll find among the extremely rare occasions when the group with the double-digit halftime lead loses, nonetheless it is indeed small you're better off switching to another game or to another exercise. No matter who the staff is or what their seed can happen to be, there's no greater assurance of moving forward to the following round than to create a double-digit halftime lead. Next is done, the others of the items will likely fall into place.

What Occurred Last Night: Miamias Streak Reaches 27, Tigeras Zero. 1 In The World Again

The sole relevant discussion in the NBA today revolves around Miamias streak: when it will end, will it ever end, what does it mean, does it mean anything, and the like. In the great scheme of championships, this is only decoration a' in the end, this isnat the 1972 Miami Dolphins 17-0 year, when efficiency and championship significance converged historically. This can be a Miami Heat group struggling legacy on numerous fronts and machines. Because itas no longer sufficient to win championships, at least not when three of the leagueas most readily useful synergy for that purpose. But whatas therefore exciting about any of it streak isnat the wins themselves, but instead their quieting degree. No oneas referring to Miamias faults or threats for their throne or other items of detraction. Thereas one group and thereas everyone. Thereas one player, LeBron James, and everyone else. Anything have been driven right into expectation and thereas hardly by reality left to state. Oh yeah: LeBron had 24 points, 11 helps and 9 rebounds last night in a 108-94 win without Dwyane Wade on the second night of a road back-to-back. Depending on usual. After winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational yesterday by two strokes, Padraig Harrington vaulted to No. 1 on the planet for the very first time since October 2010. Chalk it around newfound relationship security or or whatsoever else, but things just seem right with Tiger on top of the golf world. And this news, at its core, is just a demonstration of athletes as people, or actually athletes just as athletes. Tiger is a example in perception as truth, that heas an introverted and pompous penis who is actually really good at tennis. And we could and do benefit from the latter without engaging the former, which is a comfort in that story doesnat totally eat the nuts and bolts of the whatas going on: thereas an individual doing things that most of us canat do, and watching something done in excellence is pretty cool. In previous years the Newcastle administration have tried various techniques to make their team for the overall game, including staying over night in a hotel this past year and a movie montage in previous years. Theyave enjoyed in derbies but I donat think it'll function as same. This really is unique. aI have performed in the Nottingham Forest-Notts County derby game, which will be big in that area of the Midlands nonetheless it doesnat get anywhere near to this one. aThey arenat stupid, they're skilled people so they know what rivalries are all about but sometimes you just must be given things and advice to consider. aThe administration here have often done that basically well a' theyave prepared us remarkably for these derby games and theyall try it again. aUsually we have a good build-up to the game, we take a extra time before that game than we do to others, which can be clear as itas our biggest game of the season. aIn conditions of the overall game, our French lads will soon know what it's about. aIave only played in one a' I got on this year at Sunderland and loved it. Itas an excellent atmosphere, tackles are flying a' I really like it.a First up for Perch and United is the small matter of a trip to Manchester City, which happens with Newcastle definately not safe inside their battle to preserve Premier League position. They should have Tim Krul back, nevertheless, with the Dutch goalkeeper returning to training yesterday in a bid to win back his position for the run-in. Newcastle are also grateful that Yohan Cabaye and Davide Santonas incidents don't seem to be serious. Maintaining the defense together will soon be essential to progress at home and abroad, where Newcastle stand on the verge of a record if they keep another clear sheet in the Europa League wrap in Lisbon. So far they've shut out Anzhi and Metalist Kharkiv and they know that another shut-out would be a modern history. Perch said: aIt would be remarkable to have the record. aI didnat really know that, however it would be some success. aTo obtain a clean sheet in any form is extraordinary but to have five on the reversal in Europe is another thing. aIt is likely to be hard to achieve that because Benfica are a top notch group. aWeave had some good results, played against some good teams and got through to a period where itas very serious now. Iam happy weare anywhere in which a large amount of fans can get. Iam certain weall take higher than a few supporters.a

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis scored 22 points and top-seeded Connecticut advanced to the regional semifinals of the women's NCAA tournament for the 20th consecutive season with a 77-44 win over Vanderbilt on Monday night.

Freshman Breanna Stewart added 14 points and Stefanie Dolson had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Huskies (31-4), who are seeking their sixth straight trip to the Final Four and eighth national championship.

The Huskies led by 13 at halftime and opened the second half on a 17-0 run to put the game out of reach. UConn held Vanderbilt without a field goal for more than 7 minutes after intermission, and the Commodores missed 11 consecutive shots.

Mosqueda-Lewis capped the big second-half run with a shot from behind the arc that made it 54-24. The basket also gave her the school record for 3-pointers in a season, surpassing Wendy Davis' 107 in 1991-92.

Hartley, who failed to reach double figures for the first time in an NCAA tournament game, was on the bench to start this one. Senior Caroline Doty, playing her final game at Gampel Pavilion, got the start in her place.

UConn used a stifling defense to hold Vanderbilt without a field goal for the first 4 minutes of the game and opened on an 8-1 run.

Kendall Shaw, who averages only three points, came off the bench to hit her first three shots for the Commodores and the Huskies led just 14-9 at the second media timeout.

UConn led 25-20 before scoring 12 straight points late in the first half. Mosqueda-Lewis tied the school record for 3s during that run, turning a missed free throw by Morgan Tuck into a four-point play with her long jumper.

The Huskies led 37-24 at the half. Mosqueda-Lewis had 11 by halftime and Stewart, who sat out the opening game of the tournament with a sore left calf, had nine points.

Clarke, who averages almost 17 points and 8.5 rebounds, had nine to keep the Commodores in striking distance. But with sharp-shooter Christina Foggie (two points) limited by a knee injury, the Commodores just didn't have the depth to stay with UConn.

Connecticut focused on stopping point guard Jasmine Lister, who averages more than 34 minutes, 12 points and five assists a game. She finished with just two points.

UConn forced the Commodores into 23 turnovers while committing 12 of their own. The Huskies also outrebounded Vanderbilt 34-24, holding Clarke to just two boards.

Connecticut (31-4), a top seed for the seventh straight season, has won 30 games for an NCAA-record eighth straight time.

The Huskies improved to 21-2 in second-round games. They have not missed a regional semifinal since losing to Louisville in the first round of the 1993 tournament.

Vanderbilt is responsible for handing Connecticut its most lopsided NCAA Tournament defeat, 75-47, back in a 1992 second-round game. The Huskies have won the other two meetings between the two in the tournament, including a 67-57 victory in a 1997 regional semifinal.

UConn improved to 43-4 in NCAA Tournament games played in Connecticut, including 41 of their last 42. Thirty-two of those wins have come in Gampel Pavilion.

The Huskies stay in-state for the next two rounds, which will be played about 80 miles away in Bridgeport's Webster Bank Arena, where the Huskies are 7-1 in previous NCAA tournaments.

Fiorentina Forward Stevan Jovetic Dreaming Of Premier League Move

Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic has put a number of Premier League clubs on alert after declaring his love for the English league according to The Daily Star.

The Montenegrin striker has been linked with a number of top Premier League sides in recent months, including the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.

Jovetic moved a step closer to making a summer move by admitting he would be tempted by the prospect of a move to the Premier League.

The striker has been in great form for Fiorentina this season, hitting an impressive 12 goals in 23 games in Serie A.

The 23-year old reportedly has a £25 million release fee clause in his current contract that could leave the Viola powerless to resist a big money bid from one of England's top sides.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is keen to make additions to his squad this summer after seeing his side fall 15 points behind city rivals Manchester United in the race for the Premier League title.

Mancini reportedly believes a number of his title-winning squad from last season to have become complacent and is keen to inject his squad with fresh talent.

Arsenal are also keen to bring in attacking reinforcements after disappointing debut seasons from Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud.

Borussia Dortmund make package for frustrated Arsenal star Tomas Rosicky - Metro

Borussia Dortmund are prepared to provide Tomas Rosicky a dream return to the membership in the summer after his frustration was expressed by him with life at Arsenal. The Gunners were joined by rosicky in 2006 from Dortmund and despite a strong start, his career has been ruined by injuries in north London and he's since been limited to a fringe function. West Brom's Ben Foster is the equal of Joe Hart, says Liam Ridgewell - expressandstar.com

West Bromwich Albion defender Liam Ridgewell today claimed Hawthorns No.1 Ben Foster should be classed alongside England rival Joe Hart as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Foster will again be on hand as understudy to Hart tomorrow night when the Three Lions take on Montenegro in a vital World Cup qualifier.

But Ridgewell, who played in front of both men at Birmingham and is now a team-mate of Foster's with West Brom, believes the pair are very closely matched.

Hart's displays for England and Manchester City have seen the former Shrewsbury man recognised as one of the world's top glovemen and Ridgewell insisted: "I don't see why Ben shouldn't be in that bracket.

"It's brilliant for England to have someone like that but it's unfortunate for him that England have two goalies at a top-drawer level in Joe and him.

"The two of them are quite similar. They are brilliant shot-stoppers, good at kicking, good at talking and, when you need them most, they make that vital save.

Foster ended his self-imposed two-year international exile earlier this month following discussions with Hodgson and was on the bench for Friday's 8-0 thrashing of San Marino.

And Ridgewell believes Foster's form at The Hawthorns merited an immediate recall by former Albion boss and current England manager Hodgson.

"It's his one-off saves that are the best thing. There are shots that, with a lot of keepers, might go in but, when you think it's going to go in, he saves it.

West Bromwich Albion defender Liam Ridgewell today claimed Hawthorns No.1 Ben Foster should be classed alongside England rival Joe Hart as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Claudio Yacob today insisted he is happy to be Albion's unsung hero as the Baggies aim for another record-breaking Premier League season.

West Brom defender Billy Jones today urged the Baggies to sign up his right-back rival Steven Reid for another season.

Is Spending Super Bucks in NFL Free Organization Actually a Winning Strategy?

When future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis announced that this year would be his last the deconstruction of the Baltimore Ravens actually began towards the finish of the 2012 regular season. The mental increase must certanly be looked at as an integral propellant because of their impossible Super Bowl run, nevertheless the short term perspective of the Ravens puts in to question this team's capability to create off last season's success. With several players set to become free agents this offseasona'including the retirements of Lewis and middle Matt Birka'it was clear that Baltimore could have had a different look on the area prior to the 2013 year. But only one month from the NFL draft, no one suspected the Ravens' drawer could be therefore blank. Other than locking up Joe Flaccoa'making the quarterback the greatest paid person in league heritage (via ESPN )a'the Ravens have done little to retain the core of people which were the likely power behind their function (Ed Reed, Dannell Ellerbe, Paul Kruger, Cary Williams and Bernard Pollard to mention a few). Baltimore even treated large phone Anquan Boldin to the Bay Area 49ers, the team they beat in Super Bowl XLVII. Although it is clear the Ravens might have didn't restore everyone, this offseason can put pressure on general manager Ozzie Newsome to supply much like he's done his whole career in the leading office. Known mainly for his proclivity to discover young talent in the draft, Newsome has been doing a superb job of keeping Baltimore's nucleus together over the years. It just so happened this offseason led to an ideal storm of the opposite. The Ravens aren't void of skill, but, as Flacco, Ray Rice, Torrey Smith, Terrell Suggs, Haloti Ngata and Lardarius Webb will form a good foundation to build on. But Baltimore can clearly need to spend resourcefully to keep its profitable resume unchanged, whilst the staff currently has just $7.2 million of cap place (via the Baltimore Sun). With the NFL implementing a pay ground start this year, it is that particular imagination that may start to separate the companies from the people that can not really overcome the problem year in and year out in this group. A floor does not affect one season; rather, it relates to a four-year period beginning in 2013. Though organizations should be still prevented by it from under or overspending in an make an effort to keep consitently the category competitively healthy every period, groups will need to spend 89 % of the full total pay cover over that time. The question is whether Baltimore's supposed head begin its rebuilding method can reduce the assumed regression that'll occur in 2010. The relatively clean slate should allow Newsome to work closely with the new means of keeping the books. Errors were evident during the last five seasons from 2008-12, while organizational spending should really be more equal continue. Research performed by Ryan Sleeper of OSMGuy.com gives a look to us at simply how much teams spent per make an impression on this era. Snapshot of the knowledge given for the 2012 time An instant look at the numbers indicates there will be exceptions to the tip. The Denver Broncos had the 10th lowest wage in 2012 and won 13 games, while the Detroit Lions used the most money and were only in a position to muster up four victories. This Season, the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished 31st and 32nd in salary, respectively, but games were won 10 by both teams. And 2008 found the Indianapolis Colts spend the fourth lowest in pay, but their 12 victories had them ranked first in price per win. Of the last five Super Bowl winners, but, the Newest York Giants in 2011 had the best ranked salary (12th) the season they won. The Ravens had earlier this time to the 10th highest pay. As the outliers are apparent, it's apparent that spending more money has produced a more consistently successful strategy. As groups will need to be more creative in the manner they field their roster but with the salary-cap ground entering play, the divergent effects will become more of the convention. The focus moving forward won't be put on how much is being spent, but on how it is actually being spent. The Ravens appear devoted to creating a team around an operation quarterback without exceptions, as are the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints and various other clubs in the NFL. Teams will be out naturally forced by building a roster from the inside to spend better in free agency, often leading to perhaps not having the ability to preserve their own players. Should Baltimore perhaps not simply take too large of a step in 2013, assume more businesses to check out suit in subsequent years. Communicate with Jeremy on Twitter

Jaap Stam in shock return to Manchester United - Manchester Evening News

He left United in 2001 after winning three Premier League titles and a Champions League winners medal in three glorious years at Old Trafford.

The legendary Dutch centre-half made an acrimonious departure in 2001 after landing three Premier League titles and a Champions League winners medal in three glorious years at Old Trafford.

And now, at the age of 40, he will wear the red shirt again after agreeing to play in the United v Real Madrid Legends match.

The decision to sell Stam, whose name is still chanted from the terraces, is regarded as one of few mistakes by Sir Alex Ferguson who later admitted as much.

But Reds fans will get the chance to see him in action once more after he became one of four former players to commit to the June 2 fixture.

Others to have already signed up include Dwight Yorke, Andrew Cole, Denis Irwin, Lee Sharpe, Dion Dublin and Quinton Fortune.

The veterans will be looking to overturn a 3-2 deficit inflicted upon them in the Bernabeu last summer and raise cash for the Manchester United Foundation, the club's charity arm.

Van der Sar, who will play at Old Trafford for the first time since his retirement in 2011, said: "I was lucky to enjoy an incredible career and finish on a high with Manchester United.

Of course I have missed playing football and I'm really looking forward to returning to Old Trafford.  Nothing can replicate the feeling of competing in front of a home crowd against a quality opposition like Real Madrid and to do it for charity makes it more special. In my time at United, I visited some of the Foundation's projects and I know the money raised from this game will really help to make a difference."

Miami vs. Illinois: Score, Twitter Reaction, Postgame Recap, and Analysis

The No. 2 Miami Hurricanes beat the No. 7 Illinois Fighting Illini on Sunday night using some late-game heroics from star Shane Larkin, along with some clutch overall free-throw shooting, to secure a 63-59 victory.

Miami got off to a fast start, taking advantage of some cold Illinois shooting to post a 7-2 lead. But the tide started to turn when Illini forward Tyler Griffey entered the game. He nailed three quick three-pointers that got his team's offense going in a much-needed way.

But the Illini's momentum was short-lived. After taking an 18-14 lead, they allowed nine consecutive Miami points, the first five coming from streaky reserve Rion Brown, the next four off the hands of 24-year-old Kenny Kadji. The two teams essentially traded blows from there until the end of the half, Miami leading 29-26 at intermission.

The game continued to go back and forth as the second half opened. Illinois fought back to take a brief lead before it quickly relinquished it to Miami. Durand Scott scored his first basket, a vicious dunk, with 10:09 to go, helping to incite a 10-2 run that extended the lead to 46-39.

But the Illini refused to go down without a fight. A couple of Brandon Paul three-pointers helped cut the deficit to reasonable proportions, and a Tracy Abrams layup tied the game at 52 with under four minutes remaining. Not too far after, an acrobatic dunk by Paul put the Illini back up, 54-52, and a subsequent charge by Miami put the ball (and the momentum) squarely back in their hands.

Scott tied things up with a put-back layup not too much later, and the game remained tied until Abrams went to the line and hit a free throw with 1:24. But Larkin would have none of that, crossing into a step-back and nailing a three on the other end.

Trailing 57-55, Illinois got the ball back with 1:03 on the clock. But D.J. Richardson air-balled a three, and though the ball clearly went off of Miami, the refs gave the ball back to the Hurricanes.

Durand Scott knocked down two free throws for Miami, and then Nnanna Egwu, a 62 percent foul shooter, went to the line for Illinois. He surprisingly knocked in both, pulling the Illini within two with 22.3 on the clock.

Like Scott before him, Larkin iced two free throws at the line, extending the lead back to four points. Paul missed on the other end, but it was tipped in for two by Egwu.

The Illini then fouled Brown, a 73.3 percent foul shooter. He calmly stepped to the line and knocked in a pair, extending the lead once again to four with 7.7 seconds remaining. Paul missed on the other end, and that was all she wrote. Miami: 63. Illinois: 59.

Much will be written about the horrid (and it was horrid) out-of-bounds call at the end of the game and whether or not replay decided the outcome.

But the 'Canes' late-game free-throw shooting might have been the most important factor. They hit six huge free throws down the stretch that never allowed Illinois a chance to tie or pull ahead.

Larkin, Scott and Kadji, Miami's three best players, all struggled from the field. They were saved by streaky reserve  Brown, who scored 21 points off the bench. He also hit the final two free throws with under 10 seconds, which essentially ended the game.

For Illinois, the loss is painful, but it showed impressively as a seven seed against a great opponent.  Egwu and Griffey had particularly strong showings, scoring 12 points apiece, while Brandon Paul had 18.

Gawker editor, Deadspin founder and noted fan of all things Illinois, Will Leitch, didn't have a problem with his alma mater's three-point halftime deficit:

Later, halfway through the second half, he heaped even more praise on his team, lauding their effort in spite of the eventual outcome:

With all eyes turned on the Miami-Illinois contest, The Big Lead's Jason McIntyre implored star player Larkin to seize the big stage:

CBS Sports analyst Seth Davis didn't quite get the Canes' small lead, especially given their ability to keep Illinois off the stripe:

USA Today's Dan Wolken was impressed by Brandon Paul's lead-assuming dunk, likening him to tournament darlings—and notorious high-flyers—Florida Gulf Coast:

ESPN's Big Ten bloggers, Adam Rittenberg and Brian Bennett, also had something to say about the state of replay in college basketball:

Finally, back to Leitch, who, despite being heartbroken by his team's loss, tried to remain positive in the face of referee controversy:

The Chelsea 2D blog - Latest Chelsea Football Club News: Josh ...

McEachran made his Chelsea debut in the Champions League on 15th September 2010 against MSK Zilina when he came off the bench. The 2010-11 season turned out to be a good one for young Josh as he made a total of 17 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions. The next season, under new boss Andre Villas-Boas, first-team action was limited. This led to the youngster completing a loan move to Swansea City, although game-time was at a premium at the Welsh club; he only made 5 appearances for the Swans.

McEachran was a part of Chelsea's 2012-13 pre-season tour. In the first match against the Seattle Sounders, McEachran made a pass that split the Sounders' defence and found Romelu Lukaku who calmly slotted the ball beyond the keeper. It was a real positive moment for the young midfielder. However, it was his mistake that led to the Sounders getting an equalizer; a poor back-pass was pounced on. The mistake clearly shook the youngster.

While McEachran's quality was never in doubt, it was apparent to one and all that he needed regular game time in order to improve. It was also apparent that he would never get regular game time at Chelsea. So when a loan move to Middlesbrough was finalised before the 2012-13 season began, it was seen as the right move for the youngster. So far, the loan move seems to be working well. He has 3 assists for Boro in 31 appearances, and while the returns appear poor, stats don't tell the entire story. Especially for a player like McEachran.

Josh's ideal position is that of a deep-lying playmaker, someone who sits deep in midfield and controls the game and dictates the tempo at which the team plays. He has excellent vision and good composure on the ball. He also has the ability to unlock defences with a good pass. Chelsea's current 4-2-3-1 formation would certainly suit his abilities very well and may even bring out the best in the midfielder. However, it is uncertain if Chelsea will choose to retain his services or send him out on another loan spell to gain more experience and game time.

One cannot doubt Josh's talent and it he has certainly improved during his loan spell. However, there is one thing Josh must work on before he returns to Chelsea to fight it out in order to become a first-team regular: work on his physique. At the moment Josh is a tad bit skinny and may well find himself getting bullied around by defenders in the Premier League.

Valencia tops Manchester United exit list ahead of £60m summer ...

The winger is joined by the likes of Nani, Anderson and Chicharito on the list of players who Sir Alex Ferguson will listen to offers for this summer

It is hard to believe that Manchester United need ever face the negative consequences of their decisions. The club possess a transfer policy which appears largely flawless, a manager whose position will rightly never come under threat and a 15-point lead at the top of the Premier League which is testament to their excellence on and off the pitch.

However, when the summer transfer window arrives, the reality of the Red Devils' position will be evident. Tough decisions must be made as a direct result of the work done in the 12 months preceding that point - and the risk of making the wrong ones is unavoidable.

Antonio Valencia, Nani, Anderson, Chicharito and Anders Lindegaard will all find their place in the squad under threat, with a rare overhaul at Old Trafford set to click into gear. Sir Alex Ferguson's desire to land Robin van Persie "at all costs" ahead of Manchester City is set to come home to roost; the unsustainable nature of that layout for a club laden with an incredible level of debt will be underlined.

The Dutchman's €292,000-per-week wages and the €20 million acquisition of Wilfried Zaha - a move brought forward to January as a result of interest from other clubs - have effectively wiped out the summer budget. Therefore, United are hoping to generate €82m in incoming transfer fees, with Sir Alex keen to bring in more consistent, cost-effective solutions to his impending squad clearout.

As exclusively revealed by Goal.com on Saturday, Anderson is actively seeking a move away having failed to establish himself at Old Trafford, and a host of South American clubs are poised to battle for his signature. Lindegaard, meanwhile, is also likely to smooth the path towards his exit, having recently voiced concern over falling behind David de Gea in the pecking order.

Chicharito is believed to be Atletico Madrid's number one target following the expected departure of Falcao and, whilst Valencia may prove more difficult to budge, the Ecuadorian is likely to be forced toward the exit door having failed to find his best form following a lengthy injury lay-off.

As a well-placed source explained to Goal.com, these departures were effectively decided by the all-or-nothing pursuit of Van Persie prior to this season: "Sir Alex and the club made it abundantly clear they would go that extra yard for Robin. United knew the numbers involved but saw it as a real signal of intent going forward.

"A couple of other targets had to slide as a result, certainly Lucas Moura, when Paris Saint-Germain made their interest known in the boy.

"Those figures were just crazy. Wilfried Zaha is a sound investment due to the relatively low money involved. Sir Alex knows he will have to be even cuter this summer as a result of Robin now being on our wage bill."

The decision to forgo the signing of another big-name for big money betrays Sir Alex's preference for maintaining the unrivalled squad size which has helped United cruise to the title this term. This, of course, means that, unfortunately for Mario Gotze, his recent come-get-me plea to United and Real Madrid will fall on deaf ears, in England at least.

Regardless, though the summer arrivals at Old Trafford may not be as exciting in individual terms, the pursuit of increased consistency across the squad should similarly alert United's rivals. This is a club who possess a raft of marquee players already, and their supporting cast may just be about to get a little more effective.
