Firefighters undertake a roof fire in Pennard Road, Shepherd's Bush FIREFIGHTERS arrived in the nick of time and energy to stop a top blaze burning down a Shepherd's Bush home. Builders were working on the top of the house in Pennard Road at about 1pm on Wednesday (April 10) when wood caught fire, and threatened to spread rapidly. But four teams from Kensington, North Kensington, Fulham and Hammersmith have there been very quickly and got the fire in order. View director Roland Heal said: "The good deal might have risen very quickly. A blowtorch is only needed by it to find a little of decaying timber and you could have fire distributing really easily." The home had no smoke alarms and can now be equipped using them by the brigade free of charge. Mr Heal said anyone who is thinking about having free sensors installed inside their house should contact London Fire Brigade for a consultation.
