Manchester City and Chelsea are preparing for a summer battle for Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez, according to The Daily Mail.
The Premier League rivals are both thought to be keen on Napoli's Edinson Cavani and Manchester City are currently thought to be in pole position for the Uruguayan striker's signature.
Gomez is disillusioned with life at the German giants after finding himself slip down the pecking order this season.
The forward is keen to secure a move away from the club as he is worried his lack of first team football could jeopardise his place in the German national team.
Chelsea are thought to be keen to bring in attacking reinforcements this summer after finally running out of patience with misfiring forward Fernando Torres.
City meanwhile are expecting Edin Dzeko to leave the Etihad in the coming months and have yet to fill the space left by Mario Balotelli's move to AC Milan in January.
